Upgrading of facilities with the supply and installation of a new water-cooled refrigeration unit at the P.G.N. “Attikon”

Description

MELKAT, with the aim of continuous energy upgrading and quickly meeting the needs of the hospital, undertook the replacement of an old water-cooled chiller at the facilities of the “Attikon” University General Hospital.

The water-cooled chiller complies with all international and European specifications, and bears all the necessary safety and certification markings.

The cooling capacity is estimated at 1,890.68 kW with efficiencies of EER: 5.65 and SEER: 9.05 in EUROVENT conditions.

The installation of the new equipment includes recovery of the refrigerant from the existing chiller in appropriate bottles and examination of the suitability of the refrigerant for its reuse.

Dismantling of the hydraulic supply and return networks to the evaporator and condenser of the chiller, water filters, regulating valves, cut-off and non-return valves, insulation and other equipment of the chiller connection networks.

Disconnection from the electricity supply network. Insulation of the existing network pipes.

Dismantling of all signal wiring to the BMS system. A static study and construction work of the chiller base were carried out.

Removal of the old chiller and its transfer to a suitable and licensed refrigeration equipment recycling site.

Static study of the chiller base and construction work according to the static study, with all necessary materials, work and equipment.

Modifications to the existing hydraulic piping network and installation of new equipment and insulation (pumps, electric motors, etc.) as well as hydraulic tests to check the tightness of the welds.

For the installation of the new water-cooled chiller, an electrical installation was carried out again according to the standard, its interconnection from the electrical panel to the low voltage fields of the substation as well as communication with the BMS with new controllers.
